Introducing what I will retroactively call Version 3 of Kybercode!
This site doesn't have a strict version history, but retroactively, let's label it like this:
- November 23, 2024: Version 1 and launch of the site
- November 26, 2024: Version 2, which added bits and an improved search page
- May 27, 2025: Version 3, which is this version!
This latest update to Kybercode most notably adds comments! Try them out at the end of this article and report any issues if you encounter any!
Also noteworthy: we updated our Privacy Policy. We still aren't tracking you or anything, but we believe it is moral to make clear how we use the data you provide when commenting.
As usual, I can't promise things will stay this way forever. Our Privacy Policy will always have the most up-to-date information on how we handle your data.
I also fixed our graph component (see it here) for older browsers. They worked fine on modern browsers but I improved their browser support.
I might write an article but how I made the component (like I did when I made a CodePen-inspired code demo component) but right now I'm not super proud of it and might give in and use an open source solution like Chart.js in the future.
Finally, I cleaned up the site a bunch. Fixed a bunch of bugs, tweaked the UI a tiny bit, that kind of thing. All the boring tasks that needed to get done eventually. Feels nice to finally have the site cleaned up.
Stats are fun, so here's a few that Google's Search Console gives me:
- Clicks: Around 30 in total. Not a lot. (Don't look at what our goal for this year is.)
- Impressions: Around 1,000. That's a 3% CTR.
- Average Search Results Position: Around 50. This explains the above stats I guess.
I didn't exactly have high hopes for this site, but even these numbers are depressing.
But I think the reason is obvious: I've done a whopping 0 amount of promotion for this site. For other sites I've launched, I've had an audience that I was able to promote it to. And this probably helped with SEO, even if the traffic didn't come from SEO at first.
But I have yet to promote this site anywhere. I don't feel like spamming it in comment threads and I'm not a part of any developer communities. If you have any ideas on how to promote this site ethically, do let me know in the comments or send me an email.
If you want to help promote this site, the best thing you can do is share the link around or even link to it on your own site!
I'm tempted to add Google Analytics to this site to hopefully get more data, which I can use to improve things, but I also really don't want to track Kybercode's users (however few there are).
But at the same time, growth is exponential. So I'll continue doing what I've been doing: publishing quality tech articles. No SEO slop. And hopefully quality content alone can grow this site. Let's call it an experiment.
