ICANN is Retiring .su Domains. What About .io Domains?
The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. The .su domain is going to collapse in 2030. That's a whole 39 years later. So what's going on with .io domains?

I cannot see .io domains going away despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Domains vs Subdomains
Jim Nielsen makes a good point: instead of buying a new domain for each project, use a subdomain of a personal domain.

A Domain is a Subscription You Can't Cancel
Verisign has been ridiculed for increasing the price of .com domains every year it can and by the maximum amount it is allowed to. Verisign seems to not understand the 7% price hike per year is a maximum, not a minimum.
